Listed Manor House, Stirling, Scotland, FK7 (SL256)

Built originally in 1675 and with major works completed in 1883. Grade A listed Manor House located just off the M8 junction for Stirling.

The last 100 years have seen the various owners not have any capital to invest in the house and much of the space is as it was all those years ago. A true time capsule of a by-gone era. Now owned by the community in what was at the time the largest urban community buy-out of its kind in the entire country. We have a volunteer army that is on a long 15-year mission to restore the house and grounds. Making it a creative and multi-use space that connects its visitors to history.

Set within 30 acres of grounds, the house has several formal gardens, growing spaces, and woodlands. The house itself has over 30 rooms of various sizes. Various ornate and architectural features throughout the building that date back to the original 17th century build. The house has strong connections to the Jacobite Rising of 45', hosting Bonnie Prince Charlie for the month of January of 1746. It was also once home to the famous Wilsons of Bannockburn who was the largest tartan manufacturer in the world. This house itself is steeped in history and local legends.
