A grade II listed Tudor-Gothic mansion set in 10 acres of woodland the house boasts glorious sea views across the English Channel.
Entrance Hall
The house is accessed through large metal studded front doors that bring you
into the main hallway. The whole length of the hallway still has its original oak
wainscotting and at the far end of the hall are another set of studded oak doors
with stained glass windows above them.
Drawing Room
Beautiful carved oak doors lead into the south facing sitting room. The room is
bathed in light from three large windows, which look down across the lawn and
out to sea. The original Victorian ceiling is of carved and painted wood. There
is a large tiled open fire with a carved wood fire surround and a carved mirror
above it. In front of the fireplace there are three Chesterfield style sofas and a
large oak coffee table. There are two wingback armchairs in front of the main
window and a small writing desk by the other. There are half height carved
wooden bookshelves around the room. Another set of carved wooden sliding
doors lead through to the Piano room.
Piano Room
A truly remarkable room with all of its original features intact. South facing
with sea views, the room is entirely wood panelled with wooden floorboards
and has a beautiful carved painted ceiling. There is a large box bay window
with upholstered window seat. Opposite the window is a large tiled open fire
with ornate carved fire surround with a large mirror above. Apart from a small
upright piano (which is easily moved) the room has been left empty so you can
take full advantage of the space.
Conservatory
Large conservatory with original Victorian tiled floor with fire doors leading to
outdoor gravel area.
Main Staircase
Oak panelled wrap around staircase and banister leading to first floor. There is a
large stained-glass window at the top of the first flight of stairs.
Dining Room
East facing with original panelling and floorboards with a large window with
stained glass features. There is an imposing open fire with stone surround and
carved mirror above it.
Library
A smaller west facing room with wood panelling and floorboards. The back of
the door and a set of cupboard doors are fitted with antique book spines which
give the effect of book filled library shelves. There is a small tiled open fire
with carved stone surround
